Security work in Tempe

Tempe packs several building types into a short drive. Around ASU, Mill Avenue, and Tempe Town Lake the stock is apartments, mixed-use buildings, and businesses that share a sidewalk with foot traffic all year. South of the university, the neighborhoods turn into single-story houses and small rentals, many of them updated in pieces. Along Rural, Broadway, and the office parks toward the freeway, the work is suites and lobbies. A student apartment, a 1960s ranch house, and a second-floor office do not get the same equipment list.

Multifamily and rental properties need coverage of entries, stairwells or gates, and the package or bike area, with a recorder the owner or manager can reach without living on site. Tenants should not be given the admin password. We set a manager login and, if you want, a view-only login. Cameras go in common areas, not inside units. Houses south of campus are a more ordinary alarm and camera job, except the lots are small and a lens crosses into the next yard easily. We check that on a monitor before we call the aim finished.

Networks in the dense parts of Tempe are crowded. Dozens of Wi-Fi names show up on a scan, and a camera that worked in an empty house during a lease gap will struggle once every unit is occupied. Common-area video should be on cable back to a switch in a locked closet. Offices near the light rail have a similar issue on a smaller scale: the suite router is also the guest network. We separate them when we add cameras, and we can add an alarm on the suite door without waiting on the building to rewire the whole floor.
